Hi modelEAU Forum users,
Our forum is quickly shaping up and activity is rising (more than a 100 registered users as of today !). To make it all a bit more personal and also to get a view on the person behind the name, we've activated the "upload avatar" functionality in the profile editor. For those that don't know the term "Avatar", here is what Wikipedia says about it:
| Quote: | Avatar (virtual reality):
Among people working on virtual reality and cyberspace interfaces, an avatar (sometimes AV or av) is an icon or representation of a user in a shared virtual reality. The term is sometimes used on MUDs, in computer role-playing games, and shared non-gaming universes such as Active Worlds, There, Second Life, and The Palace.
This definition has recently been applied to online virtual communities and Internet forums in particular, as a picture that a member/user of such a community/forum has elected to display alongside his or her contributions in order to represent him- or herself. Avatars have also become popular in instant messaging, and are sometimes referred to as buddy icons. |
So, the whole point is that now you can add a (small, 80x80 pixels) picture on your profile and make yourself known to your forum friends.
Go to your profile. At the bottom of the page you will see the Avatar control panel. You can upload your avatar from your machine or from another webpage (give the URL then).
I look forward to SEE you soon !
